Relocating Youth Justice

Edifice Consulting has been appointed to act as Relocation Project Manager for the new head office of the Youth Justice Board (YJB). The YJB, part of the Ministry of Justice, is due to relocate from current premises in Carteret Street, SW1 during 2009.

Edifice will have overall responsibility for the management of the relocation of some 200 staff as well as the fit-out of 22,000 sq.ft. of new office space. This is Edifice’s first government project and a commission that was secured against stiff competition.

Oxford 1300 Completed for Centrica

Edifice Consulting recently managed the fit-out of a 5,500sq.ft. office block at 1300 Parkway Court, Oxford for Centrica Group Plc. This was a fast track fit-out over six weeks and Edifice acted as lead consultant, employing the M&E engineers and space planners under one appointment by the client. On the back of the project’s success Edifice has been appointed to manage the refurbishment of two other buildings on the same campus.

Airport surveys taking off

Edifice consulting recently commenced what should be an ongoing programme of suspended ceiling inspections at BAA’s London airports as part of the process of ensuring retail concessionaires meet BAA’s stringent compliance standards.

Edifice first had to prepare a survey template which met BAA’s requirements before undergoing lengthy induction procedures and security checks. Inspections are undertaken outside the normal operational hours of the airport and involve the production of a report on the ceiling’s general condition and any remedial works required.

RICS housing market survey

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors recent Housing Market Survey presents a gloomy picture. However Edifice Consulting’s Managing Director, David Cosway, remains upbeat about the future:

“We continue to receive a steady flow of enquiries for residential surveys albeit the flow has reduced of late. However, due to our broad base of clients and the range of services we offer, we are not solely reliant on the housing market to maintain our workload. As a result we are able to uphold our high standards of service whilst those who are less diverse struggle to sustain themselves.”
